What to pack for your fishing trip.

Fishing Trip Packing List

  1. Fishing Gear

    • Personal fishing rod & reel (8 weight recommended with floating line; consider sink tip as well)

    • Waders (check for leaks; suggested to have wading boots one size larger)

    • Wading shoes (non-felted soles, as felted soles are illegal in Alaska)

    • Stripping tape or stripping guards

    • Fishing gloves — fingerless preferred by most.

    • Forceps or needle nose pliers (simple models are sufficient)

    • Line nippers

    • 10 or 12 lb strength — you can use clear, ultra green, or chameleon

    • Flys & Lures for silver salmon fishing trips (August 15 - October 10th)

      • Black and white dolly llamas

      • Chartreuse and white dolly llamas

      • Pink and white dolly llamas

      • Brown and black dolly llamas

      • Green and white clouser

      • Pink and white clouser

      • Blue and white clouser

      • Bass poppers for top water fishing

  2. Clothing

    • Rain Jacket and Rain Pants - Rubber rain gear works best for 5 days of heavy southeast Alaska rain

    • Fleece pullover

    • Puffer Jacket

    • Long underwear base layer (tops and bottoms)

    • Fleece pants

    • Warm, insulated socks -

    • Warm hat

    • Ballcap or fishing hat

    • Warm pair of gloves for travel to/from fishing spots

    • Jeans or travel pants for after fishing

    • Casual shirts for after fishing

  3. Personal Items

    • Insect repellant (some available in camp)

    • Sunscreen (some available in camp)

    • Insect head net

    • Headlamp for when the generator goes off at night

    • Polarized sunglasses (e.g., SMITH Guides choice)

    • Reusable water bottle

    • Camera

    • Toiletries (towels, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash provided in camp)

  4. Other Essentials

    • 7 day ADF&G 2025 Sports fishing License — https://store.adfg.alaska.gov

    • Soft-sided cooler bag for transporting fish (no hard coolers allowed)

    • Read, sign, and submit the liability release waiver (found at the bottom of the contact page on the website)

Important Notes

  • Limit your gear to 1 50 lb bag per person and a backpack; soft-sided bags are preferred over hard suitcases for transportation via small bush planes.

  • Ensure to check for any additional items you may need based on personal preferences or specific trip conditions.

  • We do have a washer and dryer here at camp and would happily run laundry while you are out adventuring for the day.

  • Please let us know ahead of time if you have any food allergies so we can plan accordingly.

Adventure Trip Packing List

  1. Fishing Gear

    • Lures for summer salmon fishing - Blue Fox Classic Vibrax painted series #2 - highly suggest adding spoons or spinners, and hoochies also work great

    • Flys for summer salmon fishing (June 1st - August 15th)

      • Mini-Krystral Shrimp - Chartreuse #6

      • Sockeye Killer #4 - RedBrown and black dolly llamas

      • Sockeye Killer #4 - Chartreuse

      • Clousers in various colors #4 or #2 - Pink, white, chartreuse, blue

  2. Clothing

    • Rain Jacket - Rubber rain gear works best for 5 days of heavy southeast Alaska rain

    • Warm pair of gloves — For our rainy climate we love the rubber on the outside and insulated on the inside gloves.

    • Jeans or travel pants for hanging at camp

    • Casual shirts for hanging at camp
